As a supervisor, my role is to guide you in applying social work theory, standardized knowledge, skills, competence, and ethical principles in your practice. Additionally, I provide feedback and assess progress to help you advance towards your professional development goals.

What are the eligibility requirements for LCSW Supervision in Texas?
The Texas Behavioral Health Executive Council sets the requirements for LCSW clinical supervision in Texas. LMSW’s must complete 100 hours of supervision with an approved supervisor over a period of at least 24 months. Additionally, you'll need to accumulate 3000 total work hours before you can apply to sit for your exam.
If you are working full-time (about 30 hours a week) it takes approximately 24 months and if you are working part-time (about 15 hours a week) it takes approximately 48 months.
Does my job qualify for LCSW Supervision?
The Texas Behavioral Health Executive Council has specific criteria. Your job should involve assessing, diagnosing, and treating chemical dependency or mental health issues according to the DSM-V criteria for at least four (4) hours a week. There are several ways this can be achieved even if your job does not meet the clinical requirements.
How often will I have Supervision?
Full time supervision involves a commitment to meet for two sessions each month, both will be 2-hours in length. With this schedule, you can complete supervision as quickly as 24 months.
Part-time supervision includes one 2-hour session each month. It will take approximately 48 months to complete.
Some employer’s will reimburse you for the cost. Be sure to ask.
What is a session like?
For both individual and group sessions, the first hour will focus on building clinical skills through deeper understanding of various theories and approaches, learning about the impact of trauma and attachment experiences, psychopharmacology, ethical dilemmas, the DSM-V, diagnosing and developing critical thinking skills needed to pass the LCSW exam. The second hour will focus on case review for the real-time cases you are currently working on. There will also be assignments to complete between sessions.
