Your journey to healing and empowerment starts now.

The road to healing.

EMDR Intensives present a unique opportunity to accelerate your therapeutic journey and make substantial progress in a shorter timeframe. Unlike traditional weekly one-hour sessions, EMDR intensives are highly concentrated, spanning 6 hours per day over 3-5 days. This focused structure enables you to dedicate ample time to healing, personal growth, and achieve lasting improvements in your well-being.

Benefits of Intensive EMDR

  • Accelerated Healing

Instead of taking months or years to work through traumatic experiences, EMDR Intensives allows more information processing in just a few days, resulting in life changing healing.

  • Cost Effective

Due to the highly focused nature of EMDR Intensives, the work is much more efficient, requiring less time and less overall cost.

  • Customized For You

EMDR Intensives will be different for everyone depending on what your specific needs are. Together we will create a personalized plan to fit your schedule and treatment goals.

  • Works in Conjuction with Weekly Therapy

Adding an EMDR Intensive to your treatment plan might allow you to make some major progress in the movement towards your treatment goals and offer quicker relief for overwhelming symptoms.

  • A Different Approach

Have you done therapy in the past and still feel ‘stuck’? Sometimes people just don’t respond well to traditional forms of therapy, especially when trauma is involved. EMDR Intensives accelerate the process of healing from trauma wounds.

  • You Don't Have to Live in Corpus Christi

 Frequently Asked Questions

  • EMDR has a specific 8 phase protocol we follow.

    1. History and Treatment Planning-Discuss your history and how symptoms in the present are linked to past experiences. Next we develop a personalized treatment plan with focus on possible targets for processing.

    2. Preparation-We continue to discuss the EMDR process and expectations about outcomes. I will answer any questions or concerns. Then we start resourcing techniques to help you cope with any emotional disturbances that may arise.

    3. Assessment-We identify the event we are going to process, the feelings, emotions and beliefs that go along with it and establish a baseline measurement of distress (SUD).

    4. Desensitization-This is the processing phase of EMDR where we use bilateral stimulation to reprocess the target memory and decrease the SUD, while also allowing new thoughts, feelings and beliefs to emerge. During this phase we sometimes encounter blocks in processing. If this happens, utilizing cognitive interweaves and resources can help to overcome these barriers and allow us to resume processing.

    5. Installation-Once we have those more positive thoughts and beliefs we use this phase to strengthen them until they feel completely true.

    6. Body Scan-In this phase you hold both the positive beliefs and the target while scanning the body for any lingering sensations and we continue processing if needed.

    7. Closure-This phase looks a little differently with the intensives but will occur each time we take a break and at the end of the day whether the target is fully processed or we plan to resume processing during the next session. We often use grounding exercises such as deep breathing, guided imagery or other techniques to help you return to a more calm and present state before leaving the session.

    8. Reevaluation-At the beginning of each new session, we discuss recently processed target memories to ensure distress is still low and positive cognition is strong. We also discuss possibility of future targets and continue processing if needed.

During intensive days, we begin at 9 am and finish around 4 pm, breaking for lunch at approximately 12 pm and taking additional breaks as needed.

  • Typically, individuals already in therapy have done some prepwork before starting EMDR. The Intensive work serves as a valuable complement to your existing therapy, and I will gladly collaborate with your therapist to ensure a seamless experience.

  • As with any therapy treatment or technique, I cannot guarantee a "cure" regardless of the approach. While some individuals may find one Intensive sufficient for significant progress, others might opt for additional Intensives in the future or continue with their therapist using a more traditional model. The advantage of an Intensive lies in its capacity to cover the equivalent of many weeks or even months of therapy in just a few hours or days.

  • EMDR intensives are equally effective as weekly sessions, with the added advantage of condensing months' worth of treatment into just one week.

  • Most insurances will not cover EMDR Intensives, but I will be happy to provide a receipt for you to submit to your insurance carrier and encourage you to call them to discuss out-of-network and maximum allowed benefits.
